STRAATWERK's focussed outreaches to women caught up in prostitution already started in the harbor of Cape Town in the 80's. Following changes and stronger law enforcement in the harbor, the women had much less access to the harbor to be involved in prostitution there. We currently reach out to women involved in prostitution who stand on the streets.

History
The focussed ministry to women involved in prostitution started on the harbour in the 80's. In this context we had the privilege of learning so much from these women about the destruction caused by the lifestyle of prostitution. We regularly visited them on the boats, often wrote letters to them and came alongside them as we had the opportunity.

Legislation
Through many years of reaching out to, journeying with these women, and witnessing the destructiveness of the lifestyle, we have become convinced that everything possible should be done to keep anyone from entering or staying in, the lifestyle. In the light of this we believe that prostitution should remain criminalised, and that we as the Church should take up the privilege of inviting them out.
